General Dentistry

The Shreveport family dental office of Dr. Ronald Hermes and Dr. Anna Windham Shirley offers our patients a pleasant and inviting atmosphere with genuine care and extensive knowledge of dental health that makes your visit enjoyable. We are a family-oriented dental practice, and Dr. Shirley enjoys making sure children in particular have a good experience at the dentist’s office. This creates a positive foundation for a lifetime of good dental health. Our office uses digital X-ray technology, which results in lower radiation exposure and instant results that can be viewed from computer screens in each of our exam rooms. General dentists Drs. Hermes and Shirley and our team will guide you through the journey to a healthy and beautiful smile. The perfect place to start that journey is by visiting us regularly for cleanings and checkups.

What we have to offer

Routine Cleanings

We recommend cleanings every six months at a minimum. Patients with periodontal disease may need to have cleanings more often; up to three to four times per year. At our office, we offer thorough, routine cleanings to help make sure you maintain a healthy smile. Our hygienists pay close attention to identifying any problems lurking around your teeth such as tooth decay or gingivitis. Our dentists work to help you prevent tooth decay and more serious oral health issues.

Composite Fillings

Cavities and tooth decay can be embarrassing, and sometimes uncomfortable and can lead to bigger oral problems if left untreated. Our practice provides composite fillings to fill cavities and restore your tooth’s function.

Composite fillings are aesthetically more appealing than the traditional silver fillings because they are designed to blend in with the color of the natural tooth.

Children’s Dentistry

Our office is a general dentistry practice that offers services for the whole family, including the kids. We provide routine cleanings and other preventive treatments for children. It can be difficult to get kids to enjoy the dentist, but at our office, we make the visits friendly and fun for children.

Dental Sealants

Sealants are a great option for children and teens to prevent cavities and tooth decay. Sealants are a plastic material applied to the chewing surfaces of the molars, where decay happens the most. The sealants act as a barrier between the food, other external factors and the teeth, thus helping to prevent decay.

Full Mouth Rehabilitation

If you are in need of full mouth rehabilitation services, our goal is to help correct your teeth, bite or jaw alignment so you can go on to put your best smile forward without having to worry about discomfort, pain, or irregular wear of your teeth.

Dr. Hermes and Dr. Shirley have had hundreds of hours of extra training that allows them to understand your bite and jaw function so that they are able to restore your mouth back to proper function and aesthetics using crowns, veneers, implants, composite fillings or removable appliances.

Digital (Lower Radiation) X-rays

We are proud to offer the safest, healthiest dental experience available. We use low-radiation digital dental X-rays to ensure teeth are healthy and that there are no developing dental problems beneath the surface of the teeth that are invisible to the naked eye.

Dentures and Partials

Missing teeth can create a problem with chewing, and it can affect your confidence. Complete and partial dentures are used to replace missing teeth in the upper and lower jaws. Complete dentures are used when all teeth are missing, while partial dentures can be used when one or more of the natural teeth remain intact.

Extractions

Extractions are necessary for removing teeth damaged by trauma, infection or periodontal disease. Our goal is to save a tooth if it is possible, but sometimes an extraction is the only option if the tooth is non restorable. Most extractions can be done here in our office but we will refer you to an Oral Surgeon for the tooth removal under certain circumstances.

Root Canal Therapy

Toothaches are a problem that no one likes to deal with. Sometimes when a tooth becomes infected, a root canal can be done to remove infection and save the tooth. Root canal therapy addresses disorders that affect the dental pulp, the soft tissue inside the tooth. This therapy has the potential to save teeth by treating dental pulp disorders that once required extractions for successful treatment. Dr. Hermes can perform most root canals here in the office.
